I. Briefing
Founded in 1973, Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center (SSTEC) is a non-profit organization affiliated to Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality£¨STCSM£©. With expertise in scientific and technological exchange and cooperation with foreign countries and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, SSTEC is contributing to enhance the development of science and technology, economy, and society of Shanghai, as well as the friendship with foreign counterparts. Ever since the foundation, SSTEC has launched a series of fruitful cooperation in creative design, biomedicine, new energy, IT, and new material, etc. with decades of countries and regions.

II. Review
Receive foreign delegations
SSTEC has received various governmental and civil scientific and technological delegations from foreign countries and regions for its over-30-year history and organized a series of successful and fruitful business trip for them. Especially during Shanghai EXPO 2010, SSTEC assisted the local government to receive 500 people of minister-level delegations from 20 countries and ensure the EXPO reception mission accomplished.
Implement the scientific and technological exchange and cooperation among foreign counties, regions and sister cities
With the principle of promoting the bilateral and multilateral inter-governmental scientific and technological exchange and cooperation, SSTEC has established a good relationship with Representative Office of Victoria State and Queensland State of Australia, Osaka Prefectural Government Shanghai Office, Osaka City Shanghai Office and Yokohama City Shanghai Office of Japan, Representative Office of Region Rhone-Alps of France, Special Agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce of Italy, etc. and launched a series of cooperative activities in key areas.
Organize the international seminars, conferences and exhibitions held in Shanghai
With the principle of ¡°serve the government and focus on highlights¡±, SSTEC focuses on the key areas that are crucial for the scientific and technological development of Shanghai and China.
Shanghai Design Biennial (SDB), continuously held five times in the past decade, is honored as ¡°Excellent Convention & Exhibition Project in Yangtze Delta Region¡± and ¡°Excellent Exhibition in Shanghai¡±. Composed of forum and exhibition, SDB has collected the best design minds and design firms all over the world and created a pleasant environment for improving the independent innovation capacity and R&D level and enhancing the brand construction of Chinese corporations.
Shanghai International Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Forum (Bio-Forum), co-organized by SSTEC, has progressively evolved in the hot topics, ie food safety, biomedicine technology and human health, etc. Bio-Forum has attracted an increasing number of senior officials, world-renowned scientists, entrepreneurs and other outstanding specialists to discuss the all-round development of Shanghai biomedicine industry and provide the proper solutions.
In addition, SSTEC has organized or participated in a series of exchange and cooperation events, ie the Local Sci-tech Foreign Affairs Forum by MOST, Foreign-funded R&D Institution S&T Consultant Sharon, Shanghai International IP Forum, IPHE Executive Council, EU Framework Plan Seminar, Renewable Energy Seminar, ITS Seminar, China International Boat Show, etc. These events has achieved good results and social effect.
Organize the local corporations to participate in overseas exhibitions
For implementing the strategy of ¡°going out¡±, SSTEC has organized the local technological innovative corporations to overseas fairs and exhibitions. Over the past years, SSTEC has organized the Shanghai science and technology delegations to the countries and regions such as Germany, Singapore, Italy, Croatia, Vietnam, France, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Belarus, Egypt and Hong Kong to display the science and technology achievements, to communicate with local partners and to establish business network.
